The Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys For Tots program is looking for more than a few good men and women to help with the Montgomery County/Glenside campaign. Toys For Tots coordinator Guy Vogel, in presenting a plaque to Horsham Council in appreciation for its support of the campaign, told council at Wednesday night’s meeting that this might be the last year for the local Toys For Tots effort.
Vogel said he has health issues that make it difficult for him to put in the time and effort required by the year-around campaign. Couple that with a scarcity of volunteers, including drivers and warehouse workers, and you can understand why Vogel is appealing to council and other Horsham residents for help in ensuring that thousands of area children will receive a present or two come next Christmas.
The campaign also needs a larger base of operations, a building in excess of 6,000 square feet that could be used to store the thousands of toys collected by the Toys For Tots effort. If you operate a business and have unused space you want to put to a great use, or if you want to lend a hand as a volunteer, contact Vogel at 215-394-8192 or 215-672-3818.
